As part of the administrative reorganization on September 29, 2013, Aldeia de João Pires was merged with Aldeia do Bispo and Águas to form the new municipality of União de Freguesias de Aldeia do Bispo, Águas e Aldeia de João Pires . The headquarters of the new municipality is Aldeia do Bispo.
