Alec Burns

Ä Alec Burns (actually James Alexander Burns ; born November 5, 1907 in Newcastle upon Tyne , † May 2003 ) was a British long-distance runner .

At the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he was seventh over 5000 m . In 1934 he won silver at the Cross of Nations and bronze over three miles at the British Empire Games in London , starting for England . At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 , he was fifth over 10,000 m .

In 1931 he became English champion over four miles and in 1932 in cross country .
