Alec Năstac (born April 2, 1949 in Căvădineşti ) is a former Romanian boxer . Năstac was silver medalist at the European Championships in 1971 and 1973 and the World Championships in 1974 and won the bronze medal at the 1976 Olympic Games .

Career

Năstac only began boxing at the age of 19 and was Romanian champion of the years 1969, 1971, 1972 and 1974-1977 in the middleweight (-75 kg) and 1973 in the light heavyweight (-81 kg).

1971 Năstac took part in his first international championships, the European championships in Madrid , and after victories a. a. via Reima Virtanen , Finland , the middleweight final, which he lost against Juozas Juocevičius , Soviet Union (3: 2), and thus won the silver medal. The following year he won the Balkan Championships and took part in the Olympic Games in Munich , but was eliminated in the first fight against Alejandro Montoya, Cuba (knockout 1). At the end of the same year he also won the silver medal in the Eastern Bloc military championships.

At the European Championships in 1973 Năstac reached the final again. However, he lost this to the 1972 Olympic champion Vyacheslav Lemeschew , Soviet Union (5-0). In 1974 he won the silver medal of the Balkan Championships and won the World Championships after victories over Limbert Brown, Jamaica (TKO 2nd), Peter Ambrose Dula, Kenya , and Dragomir Vujkovic, Yugoslavia , and a final defeat against Rufat Riskiyev , Soviet Union (3: 2) who have favourited Silver Medal

At the 1976 Olympic Games , Năstac fought for victory over Philip McElwaine, Australia (3: 2), and Fernando Martins, Brazil (3: 2), and an injury-related (broken rib) semi-final defeat due to a failure to appear against Michael Spinks , United States , the Olympic Bronze medal.

In 1968 Năstac joined the Romanian army and retired as a colonel in 1999.
