Aleksandar Ivić (born March 6, 1949 in Belgrade ; † December 27, 2020 there ) was a Yugoslav or Serbian mathematician who dealt with analytical number theory .

Career

Ivić received in 1973 his degree in mathematics at the University of Belgrade and was there in 1975 đuro kurepa PhD (About some classes of arithmetic functions that are associated with the distribution of prime numbers) .

Ivić was full professor of mathematics at the University of Belgrade from 1988. He was visiting scholar at the University of Paris-Süd , at the Tata Institute and in Tokyo. In addition to the theory of the Riemann zeta function and related functions, he dealt with the Dirichlet divisor problem , abundant numbers and potent numbers .

Ivić was a corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts from 1988 and a full member from 2000 .

The linguists Milka and Pavle Ivić were his parents.
