Aleksandar Yosifov

Aleksandar Jossifow ( Bulgarian Александър Йосифов ; born August 12, 1940 in Sofia ; † November 25, 2016 ) was a Bulgarian composer . He was the son of the composer Josko Jossifow (1911-2001).

Life

Aleksandar Jossifow studied composition with Pantscho Wladigerow , conducting with Konstantin Ilijew and piano at the Conservatory in Sofia . In 1966 he completed his studies. Since 2000 he has been a professor of composition at his old conservatory, now the Music Academy, and at the New Bulgarian University . He has won numerous prizes and has worked in international organizations.

style

His works are based on socialist realism and are characterized by lush orchestrations . Song , dance and marching rhythms appear in extensive, well-composed forms. Jossifow especially devoted himself to music for children.
