geography

The place is about 6 km north of Schwarzenbek. It consists of the districts of Elmenhorst and Lanken.

history

The village was mentioned for the first time in 1230 in the Ratzeburg tithe register . Since 1948 the community has belonged to the Schwarzenbek-Land office.

politics

Since the local elections in 2008, the community of voters A. W. E. has all eleven seats in the local council.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are several retail outlets in Elmenhorst. The district fire brigade headquarters is also located in Elmenhorst.

There is a kindergarten in the community. The Lanken district has its own industrial area with several companies located there.

leisure

The sports club SIG Elmenhorst, founded in 1976, offers sport in several areas. The skat division took part in several German championships and won a city championship in 2007.
