Aleksander Nawarecki

Aleksander Nawarecki (born April 19, 1955 in Katowice ) is a Polish literary historian , literary theorist and essayist whose academic work focuses primarily on the history of Polish poetry from the Baroque to the present day as well as close reading .

Life

Nawarecki attended grammar school in Katowice from 1970 and, after graduating from high school, began studying polonistics at the Silesian University in Katowice, where he obtained his master's degree in 1978 . From 1979 to 1982 he attended a doctoral degree at the Institute for Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw . In 1981 he made his debut with the article Sarmacki kanibalizm księdza Baki . In 1982 he was employed as a research assistant at the Institute for Polish Literature and Culture of the Silesian University. In 1992 he received his doctorate with the thesis Rzeczy i marzenia. Studia o wyobraźni poetyckiej skamandrytów and became a research assistant at the Institute for Polish Literature and Culture. In 1993 he completed his habilitation at the Instytut Badań Literackich with the monograph Czarny karnawał. “Uwagi o śmierci niechybnej” księdza Baki - poetyka tekstu i paradoksy recepcji . In 1995 he was appointed professor and in 2003 as associate professor at the University of Silesia. Since 2003 he has also been head of the Institute for Literary Theory and. He was also a co-author of the literature textbook for the Przeszłość to dziś Middle School . In 2009 he lectured at Vilnius University . In the same year he became a member of the jury for the Gdynia Literature Prize . Since 2013 he has headed the Historyczny słownik terminów literackich project. He lives in Warsaw and Katowice.
