Alexei Sergeevich Sagorny
Alexei Sergejewitsch Sagorny ( Russian Алексей Сергеевич Загорный , English transcription Aleksey Zagornyi ; born May 31, 1978 in Yaroslavl ) is a Russian hammer thrower .
As a participant in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, he was eliminated from the qualification. The same fate befell him at the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis and in 2007 in Osaka . At the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 , he was eleventh. He achieved his best length of 83.43 m on February 10, 2002 in Adler ; this was also the world record of the year.
His greatest success so far is winning the bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships 2009 in Berlin, where he pushed the Hungarian Krisztián Pars to fourth place with his last throw of 78.09 m .
