Alen Achrowitsch Awidsba ( Russian Ален Ахрович Авидзба ; English transcription Alen Akhrovich Avidzba , born February 24, 2000 in Sochi ) is a Russian tennis player .

Career

Awidsba played on the ITF Junior Tour until 2017 and only came up with a single appearance in a Grand Slam tournament at the US Open when he lost at the beginning. Nevertheless, he came up to 16th place in the junior ranking list in May 2017. Although he was still eligible to play until the end of 2018, from then on he only competed in professional tournaments.

As of 2018, Awidsba regularly played professional tournaments and most of the time on the third-rate ITF Future Tour . In 2018 he won one title each in singles and doubles, followed by another in doubles in 2019. For the first time , the Russian achieved more than two victories on the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour in early 2019 in Đà Nẵng , Vietnam, where he failed in the quarter-finals to Marcel Granollers . In the world rankings he rose to number 380 on April 29th, his previous career high. He made his debut on the ATP Tour in October that year in Moscow , where he was able to start thanks to a wildcard . At the beginning he met his compatriot Alibek Katschmasow , who had also started with a wildcard. He won in three sets and then lost in the second round to lucky loser Nikola Milojević in two sets. He is currently ranked 424th in the world in singles.
