Alessandro D'Ottavio (born August 27, 1927 in Rome ) was an Italian boxer . He took part in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London .

Olympic games

At the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, he reached third place after losing in the semifinals. He defeated Duggie Du Perez from South Africa in the battle for the bronze medal . His results in detail:

• 1st round: points victory over George Issaberg (Iran).
• 2nd round: points victory over Pierre Hernandez (France).
• Quarter-finals: points victory over Zygmunt Chychła (Poland).
• Semi-finals: loss on points to Július Torma (Czechoslovakia).

Career as a professional

D'Ottavio became a professional boxer in 1950. In 1957, he won the Italian light heavyweight title. He won the title against Rocco Mazzola ( Italy ) and lost it five months later to the same opponent. His fight record was 29 wins, 13 losses and 4 draws.
