Alessandro Damiano (born July 13, 1960 in Trapani ) is an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman and appointed coadjutor archbishop of Agrigento .

Life

Alessandro Damiano first obtained a degree in commercial engineering in 1979 and then studied at the Pontifical Roman Seminary . On April 24, 1987, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Trapani .

After the ordination he was active in the pastoral care. In addition, he completed postgraduate studies in moral theology at the Pontifical Alfonsian Academy , which he completed in 1995 with a licentiate . Since then he has taught as a lecturer in moral theology at the Institute of Religious Studies Sant'Alberto degli Abati in Trapani. After further studies at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome, he obtained a degree in canon law in 2002 . From 1998 to 2003 he was chancellor of the diocesan curia and from 2000 to 2003 spiritual assistant to the scout movement. From 2000 to 2005 he was a spouse defender at the diocesan court and then official and pastor in Erice until 2009 . From 2009 to 2012 he was pastor in Trapani and since 2013 judge at the interdiocesan ecclesiastical court for Sicily. Since 2014 he has been Vicar General of the Diocese of Trapani.

Pope Francis appointed him Coadjutor Archbishop of Agrigento on April 30, 2020 .
