Alessandro Dimai
Alessandro Dimai (* 1962 in Bruneck ; † March 7, 2019 ) was an Italian amateur astronomer and asteroid discoverer.
Life
He worked at the Helmut Ullrich Observatory near Cortina d'Ampezzo for more than 20 years .
He put his focus on the observation and discovery of supernovae . This led to the discovery of 18 supernovae and two variable stars between 1999 and 2013 .
On January 28, 2000 he discovered the asteroid (50240) Cortina .
The asteroid (25276) Dimai was named after him on April 27, 2002.
