Shan-shan Sun

Shan-shan Sun (* 1973 in Wuhan ) is a Chinese pianist .

Life

She received her first lessons from her mother, who was a pianist at the Qintai Grand Theater , the Wuhan Opera House for many years . She made her public debut at the age of six, and when she was nine she was accepted into the Shanghai Music Academy .

In 1991 she moved to the USA and continued her studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music . There she met the Swedish pianist Per Tengstrand in 1997 , with whom she later founded a piano duo . In 2003 they both made their debut together and in December of the same year they won first prize at the Murray Dranoff International Two Piano Competition in Miami , Florida . They got married in 2005.

As a soloist, Shan-shan Sun received prizes at the Darius Milhaud Competition, the Nina Wideman Piano Competition and the South Orange Symphony Artist Competition. She has also given concerts in numerous countries and released several CDs, including a highly acclaimed recording of extremely virtuoso works by the Ukrainian composer Nikolai Kapustin , which are inspired by jazz .

She lives in Princeton , New Jersey with her husband .
