Alessandro Piva

Alessandro Piva (born April 8, 1966 in Salerno ) is an Italian film director , film editor , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Piva joined in 1990 the study of film editing at the Experimental Center of Cinematography and worked on reportages and documentaries (such as the report on Diksothekennächte, A che punto è la notte ) and radio formats. With two scripts in 1992 and 1993, he got honorable mentions at the Premio Solinas . After a short film in 1992, La strada che porta al muro del pianto, and an episode of the 1996 film Uno più bravo di te , he made his debut as a cinema director in 1999; the comedy LaCapaGira received many awards (including a David di Donatello and a silver ribbon ) and was received positively by critics and audiences alike. Mio cognato , published five years later, confirmed Piva's reputation as one of the most interesting directors of the new millennium. In 2010 his third work, Henry , premiered at the Turin Film Festival .

In addition, Piva also worked for television, shot commercials and staged an opera for the first time in 2007 . In 2011 he presented his documentary Pasta Nera , in which he investigates an Italian solidarity movement. In 2019, his documentary Santa Subito won the Audience Award (Premio del Pubblico BNL) at the Festa del Cinema di Roma.
