Alessandro Safina (born October 14, 1963 in Siena , Italy ) is an Italian opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

At the age of 17, Safina began studying at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, Italy. As a classical opera singer, he has appeared in various opera houses with famous operas such as La Bohème by Puccini , The Barber of Seville by Rossini , The Love Potion by Donizetti, Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky and many others.

In the mid-1990s, Alessandro Safina decided to develop into a new genre, which he calls opera rock. During this phase he recorded his first album "Insieme A Te" with the famous Italian pianist and composer Romano Musumarra. The song "Luna" from this album became world famous and stayed in the top area of ​​the Dutch charts for 14 weeks.

2001 Alessandro Safina sang the song Your Song by Elton John together with the Scottish actor Ewan McGregor for the soundtrack to the film Moulin Rouge by Baz Luhrmann .

In September 2001 his open-air concert entitled “Only You” took place in the “El Greco” amphitheater in Taormina , which was recorded by the American broadcaster PBS as part of the series “Great Performances” and was later released on DVD.

In November 2001, Alessandro Safina appeared (along with other world-famous singers such as Elton John and Jennifer Lopez ) and for Queen Elizabeth II in the 73rd Royal Variety Performance. In 2002 Elton John recorded his song "Your Song" a second time in a duet with Alessandro Safina for the Charity Foundation Sport Relief.

In addition to his singing career, he also tried his hand at acting in Tosca E Altre Due as Mario Cavaradossi and as himself in a Brazilian series O Clone .

Alessandro Safina sang duets with Jose Carreras , Sarah Brightman , Petra Berger and many others. He has been performing active concerts all over the world, since 2010 with a focus on the CIS countries. His repertoire consists of modern compositions, classical arias and Neapolitan songs.

In addition to classical music, Alessandro Safina likes to listen to U2, Genesis, Depeche Mode and The Clash. From his marriage to Lorenza Mario he has a son Pietro (born in 2002).
