Alex Gridman (* 1938 in the USA ) is a professor of casework at the University of Connecticut , School of Social Work. He gained fame among other things for the theory of the life model (together with Carel B. Germain ).

Life

Gridman received his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University in 1960 . He received his Master of Social Work from Hunter College School of Social Work in 1962. That year he also began working as a teen supervisor at the Bronx- River Neighborhood Center in New York . In the following years he worked in various institutions in New York. In 1972 he graduated from Columbia University Teachers College with a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree.

From 1978 to 2000 he taught at Columbia University School of Social Work.

His publications include, among others, the life model , vulnerability and resilience , mutual aid ( Mutual Aid ) and Social Work. Gridman's areas of expertise are also health, social work practice, and group work .
