Alex Paust

Alex Paust (born October 19, 1945 in Vosswinkel ) is a German SPD politician. He was mayor of the city of Arnsberg .

Life

After eight years of elementary school, Alex Paust did an apprenticeship at the Deutsche Bundespost . He then obtained his Abitur at the Westfalen-Kolleg Dortmund through the vocational school and then studied German and social sciences at the Ruhr University Bochum in Bochum. After graduation he became a teacher at the Graf-Gottfried-Gymnasium (from 2002 due to a school merger: Franz-Stock-Gymnasium) in Neheim-Hüsten and stayed there until his retirement at the end of the 2009/2010 school year.

From 1975 to 2000 he was a member of the city council of Arnsberg and from 1980 to 1984 chairman of the SPD council group. From October 14, 1984 to 1999 he was honorary mayor of the city of Arnsberg. Until March 2011 he was chairman of the local DRK and from 2001 to April 2010 chairman of the association ring in his place of residence in Arnsberg-Voßwinkel.

Honors

For his services to the community, Alex Paust received the Ring of Honor of the City of Arnsberg on June 8, 2000 and the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon on October 8, 2004 . The Romanian twin town of Arnsberg, Alba Iulia , granted him honorary citizenship of the city in 1999 .
