Alex Read (born November 22, 1991 in Belmont ) is an Australian football player . He plays in the position of the center forward.

Career

Alex Read comes from the youth division of Valentine Phoenix and was the team's top scorer in the Northern New South Wales State Football League and the U-23 youth team in the 2010 season . He also made Robbie Middleby , sporting director of the A-League team North Queensland Fury , attention. The financially troubled professional club brought Read in January 2011 for the final games of the season after he had trained with the team for a week in August 2010.

The attacker made his professional debut as a substitute on the penultimate match day of the 2010/11 season in the 2-1 defeat by Brisbane Roar and then played a 20-minute game at the end of the season against Wellington Phoenix . A further commitment by North Queensland was not possible because the club was withdrawn from the Australian Football Association after the season because of financial difficulties.

Read returned to Valentine Phoenix for some time before joining the Newcastle United Jets youth team for the 2011/12 season , which competed in the National Youth League . At the Jets Middleby had taken over the post of Chief Executive Officer during the season break . For the 2012 season, he joined Lake Macquarie City in the Northern NSW State League, before returning to the club, now renamed Northern Fury, in 2013 , which resumed play in the newly created National Premier League Queensland .
