Alex W. Drehsler

Alex W. Drehsler (born June 27, 1948 ) is an American journalist and film producer .

Career

Alex W. Drehsler began working as a journalist for the San Diego Union before becoming well known for being nominated for his Oscar for his participation in the documentary In the Name of the People at the 1985 Academy Awards . For this documentary , he and Frank Christopher traveled with a cameraman and sound engineer from Honduras to El Salvador in 1982 and visited a guerrilla fighter in Chalatenango , among others . The film took five weeks to shoot and was produced on an estimated budget of $ 150,000, with Drehsler in charge of the script. Martin Sheen could be engaged as an off-speaker .
