Alexander Alexandrowitsch Stepanow ( Russian Александр Александрович Степанов ; born April 26, 1979 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and today's coach.

Career

Alexander Stepanov began his career as a hockey player at HK Dynamo Moscow , for which he was active in the Russian Super League until 2005 . With Dynamo he was Russian champion in 2000 and 2005 . The attacker then moved to their league rivals Ak Bars Kazan , with whom he was again Russian champions in the 2005/06, 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, winning the Gagarin Cup in 2009 and 2010 . In addition, Stepanov and his team won the IIHF European Champions Cup at international level in 2007 , when Kazan clearly prevailed 6-0 against Finnish opponents HPK Hämeenlinna , and the IIHF Continental Cup in 2008 , when the Russians won the Super with three wins in three games Finally decided confidently for yourself.

He was without a club in the 2015/16 season before returning to the ice for HK Witjas in 2016 .

In the 2018/19 season he was assistant coach at HK Dynamo Moscow.
