Alexander Bennstein

Alexander FW Bennstein (born September 25, 1865 in Neuwarp ; † after 1935) was a German educator and author . He was one of the first teachers in Germany to investigate the problem of health care in schools and the cleaning of school desks and to publish several publications about it.

Live and act

He was the son of the businessman Wilhelm Bennstein and his wife Henriette nee Gall. After attending the middle school in Ueckermünde and the teachers' seminar in Pölitz, where he also heard some lectures at the University of Berlin , Alexander Bennstein began his profession as a teacher in Althagen in 1887. From January 1, 1894 to October 1898, Alexander Bennstein was editor of the Deutsche Lehrer-Zeitung in Berlin. During this time, as an editor in Althagen at Wahrlang, he published the monthly supplement to the German teacher newspaper, the monthly guide for teaching aids, school equipment, collections, handicrafts and games for young people , which was published in the Gutenberg printing house in Berlin.

After leaving the Lehrer-Zeitung, Alexander Bennstein worked as a teacher in Schönermark until 1899. Since then he has worked as a teacher in Berlin-Wilmersdorf , where he lived in Wilhelmsaue 101. Most recently he was deputy principal.

He was a member of the German Teachers 'Association and the German Teachers' Association for Natural History.

As an author, he had primarily specialized in teaching materials, school equipment and school hygiene. Some of his publications were self-published.

Alexander Bennstein married Anna Luise Auguste nee Pentzlin in 1888, the daughter of the teacher Pentzlin from Althagen. The children Martin (* 1889), Walther (* 1892) and Hans (* 1895) resulted from the marriage.
