Life

After a Catholic childhood, including in the boarding schools in Algasing and Mindelheim , he lived in West Berlin from 1967 . There he graduated from high school in 1969. He then studied philosophy and economics at the Free University of Berlin and graduated in 1982 with a Magister phil. from. From 1979 to 1985 he had various stays in Italy to study the Italian language and culture: in Perugia , Siena and Urbino . In 1988, his collection of miniatures, which focused on everyday culture, was published by the Berlin Arsenal Verlag under the title From Italy .

While he secured his livelihood through his economic involvement in the real estate sector, according to his own statements, his project of a strictly theoretical work on everyday culture and the history of mentality remains in the drafting stage. With his spring partitas (first part 2016; second part 2019) he returned to the literary first-person perspective of his Italian thought images and thus to the connection between individual experience and generalizing reflection that developed there. A third episode is planned.
