Alexander Brem (economist)

Alexander Brem (* 1979 in Bad Kötzting ) is a German economist and university professor at the University of Stuttgart .

After completing his degree in business administration in 2004, Alexander Brem worked as a research assistant at the chair for industrial management at FAU. Following his doctorate in autumn 2007, Brem was managing director and consultant at VEND consulting GmbH, which he co-founded in 2004.

From 2011 to 2014 he held a junior professorship for ideas and innovation management at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Subsequently, until December 2016 he headed the interdisciplinary section “Innovation and Design Engineering” as professor for technology and innovation management at the Syddansk Universitet (SDU) in Sønderborg , Denmark .

From 2016 to December 2019 he held the chair for technology management at FAU. Since January 2020 he has been director of the institute and holder of an endowed chair for entrepreneurship in technology and digitization at the University of Stuttgart, which is funded by the Daimler Fund in the Stifterverband . The professorship is part of Cyber ​​Valley Baden-Württemberg. In addition to technology-oriented innovation management , Professor Brem's main research areas include creativity and entrepreneurship.

In addition to his work at the chair, Brem promotes as deputy Chairman of the innovation association "quer.kraft eV" the exchange between science and practice. On May 1, 2017, he was appointed honorary professor at the Mads Clausen Institute of the SDU.

Brem is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Innovation and Technology Management and associate editor of other international journals.
