Ricardo José Araújo Ferreira (born November 25, 1992 in Mississauga , Canada ) is a Portuguese football player .
Career
In the club
Ricardo Ferreira was born in Canada to Portuguese parents and played for Toronto FC as a teenager . In 2008, at the age of 15, he moved to the youth department of FC Porto . As a young talent, he was included in the professional squad for the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League , but was not used when winning the title.
On July 8, 2011 Ferreira moved to AC Milan on a free transfer . After a year in the youth department, he spent the 2012/13 season on loan at the second division club FC Empoli . On September 25, 2012, he then made his league debut in the professional field. At the end of the season he narrowly missed promotion to Serie A with Empoli .
Before the 2013/14 season he moved to the Portuguese first division club SC Olhanense . In the 2014/15 season he was on loan for league rivals FC Paços de Ferreira . With the beginning of the 2015/16 season he was signed by Sporting Braga . There he celebrated his breakthrough.
In the national team
Ferreira made 22 international appearances for Portugal's junior national team. On 14 November 2017 he made his debut as part of a friendly match against the United States in the senior team .
