Petra Wagner (born August 16, 1968 in Güssing , Burgenland ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). From November 9, 2017 to October 22, 2019, she was a member of the National Council .

Life

After finishing elementary and secondary school in Jennersdorf, Petra Wagner attended the commercial, technical and arts and crafts middle school in Graz from 1982 to 1985 . From 1986 she did an apprenticeship at the school for health and nursing in Oberwart , which she graduated in 1989 with a diploma. She then worked as a qualified health and nurse (DGKP) at the Oberwart Hospital and at the Rosalienhof Bad Tatzmannsdorf . In 1991 she was in Iran for a month's disaster relief , for which she was awarded the Golden Medal of the Province of Burgenland . She has been running a retirement home in Rudersdorf since 2002 .

Petra Wagner is FPÖ local party leader and member of the local council in Rudersdorf , in the Jennersdorf district she was FPÖ district party leader. She was also a member of the regional executive board of the FPÖ Burgenland, from November 2016 she also acted as regional manager of the FPÖ Burgenland, in which she was succeeded by Christian Ries in July 2017 .

In the 2017 National Council election she ran on the FPÖ federal list in 18th place, on November 9, 2017 she was sworn in as a member of the Austrian National Council , where she acted as FPÖ area spokeswoman for petitions and citizens' initiatives. During the legislative period , she was a member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs, the Committee on Human Rights, the Committee on Petitions and Citizens' Initiatives, and the Equal Treatment Committee, and she acted as deputy head of the Health Committee.

In July 2019, she was appointed Burgenland's top candidate for the Austria-wide Chamber of Commerce elections to be held in March 2020 by the State Board of the Freedom Economy (FW) . After the National Council election in 2019 , she resigned from the National Council and the board of the liberal district party Jennersdorf. In July 2020, she was elected as the successor of Franz Haider as regional chairwoman of the freedom economy in Burgenland.
