Christian Ries

Christian Ries (born January 20, 1972 in Eisenstadt ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). He was a member of the National Council from December 20, 2017 to May 24, 2019, and has been a member again since October 23, 2019.

Life

Christian Ries went to the elementary school in Rust and the grammar school in Eisenstadt 1986/87 the HTBLA Eisenstadt . He then completed an apprenticeship as a ventilation engineer and plumber / sheet metal fitter. From 1991 to 1993 he trained at the Vienna Police School. Since 1991 he has been a detective at the Burgenland State Police Department . In the city of Rust he has been a member of the municipal council since 1997, where he also functions as the FPÖ city party chairman. In 2013 he became state party secretary of the FPÖ Burgenland. In July 2017 he also took over the role of country manager from Petra Wagner on an interim basis. In the 2017 National Council election , he ran in the Burgenland constituency behind Norbert Hofer in second place.
