Alexander Flemming (born August 25, 1987 ) is a German table tennis player . He was German doubles champion in 2009 and 2013.

Career

Flemming began his career at SV Rotation Süd Leipzig, where he was active until 1998. He then moved to the TTC Eilenburg association, which later merged with the ITTC Sachsen Döbeln. In 2006 he graduated from high school and then concentrated entirely on table tennis. With Chub he played in the 2nd Bundesliga until 2008 . He then moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken , with whom he was champion in the 2. Bundesliga South in the 2008/09 season. Since 2009 he has been playing for the second division TV Hilpoltstein .

In 2009 he won the doubles title in Bielefeld with Jörg Schlichter at the German championship . This was considered a surprise, as both played at 1. FC Saarbrücken “only” in the 2. Bundesliga. On the way to the final, they eliminated Roßkopf / Fetzner and Christ / Wehking . In the final they defeated Ruwen Filus / Steffen Mengel . A year later Flemming / Schlichter finished third in the double DM. In 2013 he was again German champion in doubles with Jörg Schlichter, and he also won the German university championship in singles in Freiburg.

Flemming was the first player from the new federal states to win a title at the German championships.

In addition, Flemming became vice world champion in Clickball in 2020 .

Private

In 2006 he passed his Abitur. The following years he worked as a professional table tennis player. In 2009 he began his studies in business administration and completed it in 2017 with a master’s degree. Then Alexander Flemming opened a table tennis school.
