Alexander Friedleben

Alexander Theodor Engelhardt Friedleben (born March 19, 1819 in Frankfurt am Main ; † April 11, 1878 ibid ) was a politician of the Free City of Frankfurt .

family

Friedleben was the son of the teacher Dr. phil Theodor Friedleben. The lawyer Julius Friedleben was his brother. His first marriage was on April 27, 1845. This marriage resulted in two sons and two daughters. In 1866 the first wife and a son died. The second son died in 1874. On May 12, 1867 he was married for the second time. This marriage resulted in a son who died in childhood.

Life

From 1828 to 1837 he attended the Katharinenschule and the municipal high school in Frankfurt. He then studied medicine from May 11, 1838 at the University of Bonn , where he was awarded a doctorate in 1842. med. PhD. His doctoral thesis was entitled "Hippocratis Coi biologiae explicatio nova". In the same year he was admitted as a doctor in Frankfurt. He opened a practice as a general practitioner in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen . In 1842 he translated the work "The physical care of children in their first lifetime" by A. Donneé. From 1843 to 1853 he was also a doctor for the poor in Sachsenhausen

In 1860 he became a corresponding member of the Société de Génève.

politics

In the revolution of 1848/1849 in the Free City of Frankfurt , he was one of the city's leading liberals. In 1848 he was the founder and until his death president of the Sachsenhausen citizens' association. On October 25, 1848, he was elected to the Constituent Assembly of the Free City of Frankfurt . He was a member of the Legislative Body in 1866.
