Alexander Hellgardt

Alexander Hellgardt (* 1978 in Hamburg ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

From 1998 to 2003 he studied law and philosophy at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen (autumn 2002 first state examination in law / May 2003 Bachelor of Artium of Philosophy). From 2003 to 2008 he was a research assistant to Klaus J. Hopt at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law . from 2005 to 2008 he completed his legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg . After the second state examination in February 2008 and his doctorate at the University of Hamburg in May 2008, he completed a master’s degree at Harvard Law School from 2008 to 2009 . From 2009 to 2017 he was a research assistant to Wolfgang Schön at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance (until 2010: Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law). In 2012 he conducted research at the University of Oxford , Faculty of Law and the Oxford University Center for Business Taxation. After his habilitation in July 2015 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the award of the Venia legendi for civil law, German and European commercial, company and capital market law, international private law, comparative law and legal theory, he represented chairs at the from 2015 to 2017 Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the University of Regensburg . In 2016 he conducted research at the University of Cambridge , Faculty of Law. Since April 2017 he has held the Chair of Civil Law, Corporate Law and Fundamentals of Law and Research Affiliate at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance.
