Alexander Hoffmann (born March 6, 1975 in Würzburg ) is a German politician ( CSU ) and lawyer. He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013 .

Professional background

From 1997 Hoffmann studied law at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . He passed his first state examination in law in the winter semester of 2002/2003. He did his legal clerkship at the regional court in Würzburg and at the higher regional court in Bamberg . He passed the second state examination in law in autumn 2005.

Since January 17, 2006, Hoffmann has been a legal civil servant of the Free State of Bavaria in the internal administration. Here his path led him from the government of Lower Franconia to the Miltenberg district office, where he was responsible as a department head for the areas of building supervision, land-use planning, housing subsidies and monument protection. Since September 1, 2006, he has also been the head of the department for water law, soil protection, pollution control, state waste law and municipal waste management.

From November 1, 2009 he was head of the General Citizen Services Department at the City of Würzburg.

Since 2010 he has held various teaching positions, including at the Bavarian Administration School and the Bavarian Academy for Administrative Sciences.

Political activity

Hoffmann has been a member of the CSU since 2006 . In 2009 he became chairman of the CSU local association in his home town of Retzbach . In the same year he became deputy district chairman of the CSU Main-Spessart.

In March 2008 he was elected to the market council in Zellingen .

In autumn 2012, the CSU delegates in the Main-Spessart federal constituency (Main-Spessart and Miltenberg districts) nominated him as a direct candidate for the 2013 federal election. On September 22, 2013 , Hoffmann won the direct mandate with 51.7 percent of the first votes . For the Union parliamentary group, Hoffmann was a full member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection in the 18th legislative period . In the 2017 federal election , he won the direct mandate of his constituency again with 46.6 percent.

Hoffmann was committed to TTIP and is a member of the German-Turkish parliamentary group.

In the 19th German Bundestag, Hoffmann is chairman of the subcommittee on civic engagement and a full member of the committee for law and consumer protection. He is also a deputy member of the Committee on Home Affairs and the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth .

Private

Alexander Hoffmann is of Roman Catholic denomination, is married and has one child.
