Alexander Ivanovich Medvedev

Alexander Ivanovich Medvedev ( Russian Александр Иванович Медведев ; born August 14, 1955 in Shakhtyorsk on the island of Sakhalin ) is a Russian manager and sports official . From August 2002 to February 2019 he was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Russian energy company Gazprom and General Director of Gazprom Export GmbH (“Газпром экспорт”).

Life

Medvedev graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1978. From 1989 to 1991 he worked as director of Donau-Bank AG in Vienna and from 1998 to 2002 he was director of IMAG Investment Management and Advisory Group GmbH in Vienna.

In 2009 he led the negotiations for Gazprom on gas supplies through Ukraine to Western Europe.

Medvedev speaks German without an accent. He is not closely related to the former Russian president and former Gazprom supervisory board chairman Dmitry Medvedev .

Medvedev was also president of the Continental Hockey League between 2008 and 2014 and he was president of the ice hockey club SKA Saint Petersburg . In addition, he was a member of the supervisory board of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation and represented it as a member of the Council of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF .

In February 2019 he became President and General Director of Zenit St. Petersburg . Medvedev left Gazprom at the end of February 2019.
