Alexander Yakovlevich Tairov
Alexander Tairov (* June 24 jul. / 6. July 1885 greg. In Rovno , † 25. September 1950 in Moscow ) was a Russian-Soviet director and theater theorist . He founded the Moscow Chamber Theater .
Life
As a student of Stanislawski and an observer of Meyerhold , Tairow, as a consequence of his experiences and considerations, called for what he called a “ synthetic theater ” as an answer to the naturalism (thesis) and the style stage (antithesis) of the time. Tairow defined his theater of synthesis as "neorealistic". After initial difficulties, he had great success both at home and abroad.
Despite high demands on works, direction, set design / costume, Tairow clearly and again and again placed the focus on the actor as an essential and determining element of theater. He therefore emphatically and conclusively demanded a thorough training of the actors.
Tairow viewed trained actors unreservedly as independent artists whose art, in addition to a certain amount of talent, primarily arises from a learned craft. He thus significantly demystified the profession of the actor and the theater itself, without demystifying both. Tairow also set up criteria so that this magic can arise in the theater. One of his laconic / dialectical guiding principles is: "Theater is theater". He died in the Solovievskaya psychiatric clinic.
Tarow was married to actress Alissa Koonen .
