Alexander Konstantinowitsch Scholkowski ( Russian Александр Константинович Жолковский , scientific transliteration Aleksandr Konstantinovič Žolkovskij ; * 1937 in Moscow) is a Russian linguist , literary scholar and writer .

Scholkowski attended the Faculty of Philosophy at MGU until 1959. In 1979 he emigrated from the Soviet Union and has lived in Santa Monica , USA since 1980 . He teaches at the University of Southern California .

Together with Igor Meltschuk , he designed the meaning-text model . Author of literary monographs on Babel (with M. Jampolski ) and Soschtschenko . As a writer, he wrote numerous short stories and vignettes .
