Alexander Lambert
Alexander Lambert (born November 1, 1863 in Warsaw , † December 31, 1929 in New York City ) was a Polish-American composer, pianist and music teacher.
Lambert received his first piano lessons from his father and then studied at the Vienna Conservatory with Julius Epstein . In Weimar he was the last pupil of Franz Liszt . He went to the United States in 1884 and became director of the New York College of Music in 1887 . He held this position until 1905, during which time he shaped the style of piano playing and teaching in the USA. In addition to a piano school, he wrote numerous piano works. On New Year's Eve 1929 he was killed in an accident in a taxi.
