Alexander Lerner
Alexander Lerner (born September 7, 1913 in Vinnitsa , Ukraine ; † April 6, 2004 in Rehovot , Israel ) was a Soviet - Israeli cyberneticist and dissident .
He lost his post at the Soviet Academy of Sciences when he applied to travel to Israel in 1971. This was only granted to him in 1988 in the course of the Soviet perestroika . Until his departure he lived as a dissident with international participation.
In Israel he worked at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot as emeritus professor of applied mathematics . Lerner is the author of the standard work Fundamentals of Cybernetics (1967).
