Alexander Mädche (born October 23, 1973 in Stuttgart ) is a professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute for Information Systems and Marketing (IISM), Research Group Information Systems & Service Design.

Alexander Mädche studied industrial engineering with a focus on computer science and operations research at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) from 1994 to 1999 and was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD .

Professional background

He then worked from 2001 to 2003 as head of a research department at the Computer Science Research Center in Karlsruhe and, in collaboration with Professor Rudi Studer, opened a new research group for knowledge- and semantics-based systems.

In 2003 he left the FZI and from now on worked in the private sector. He became manager of the Business Intelligence department of the Bosch Group's information processing center in Stuttgart.

In 2006 he first moved to SAP AG in Walldorf , where he became director of the Product Definition & Strategy Enterprise Information Management departments at SAP NetWeaver, where he was responsible for determining the future development direction of the components of the information management platform NetWeaver from SAP. This included the sub-areas Business Intelligence , Master Data Management ( central master data management ), Enterprise Content Management , Enterprise Search ( company-wide search ). In 2008 he then took over the position of Vice President of the product management team in the User Productivity & Experience division , which is responsible for the user interface technologies ( UI technologies ), SAP customers, the NetWeaver portal, content management , Web 2.0 and collaboration with the SAP Business Suite and the SAP Technology Group.

In 2009 he became a professor at the University of Mannheim, where he held the chair for Information Systems IV. At the same time, in 2010 he became Academic Director of the Mannheim & Tongji Executive MBA program at the Mannheim Business School . In 2011 he founded the Institute for Enterprise Systems (InES).

Since 2015 he has been a professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) at the Institute for Information Management and Marketing (IISM) and is a member of the board of directors at the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI).
