Rudi Studer.

Rudi Studer (* 1951 in Stuttgart ) is a retired professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (at the AIFB and KSRI institutes), former president of the Semantic Web Science Association and a fellow of STI International. He was director of the Information Process Engineering research department at the FZI Research Center for Computer Science. Studer was active on numerous program committees and co-founded the Journal of Web Semantics.

Studer received his degree in 1975 and a doctorate in 1982 from the computer science faculty of the University of Stuttgart . From 1985 to 1989 he was project manager and manager at the Institute for Knowledge-Based Systems at IBM Germany. In November 1989 he became a professor in Karlsruhe , where he stayed until his retirement in 2017. During his time at KIT, he built up a world-renowned research group that was primarily active in the fields of semantic web , knowledge management , ontology management , data and text mining, and semantic web services . Through numerous lectures and publications in the aforementioned areas, he achieved a high level of international recognition. He was also a co-founder of ontoprise GmbH and co-author of the Semantic Wikipedia article, which led to the development of Semantic MediaWiki and Wikidata .
