Alexander Maxwell, 2nd Baronet

Sir Alexander Maxwell, 2nd Baronet († May 23, 1730 ), was a Scottish nobleman, politician and large landowner.

He was the son and heir of Sir William Maxwell, 1st Baronet , from his second marriage to Elizabeth Hay. When his father died in April 1709, he inherited his lands including the family seat of Myrton Castle in Wigtownshire , as well as the title of Baronet , of Monreith in the County of Wigtown, which had been awarded to this on January 8, 1681 in the Baronage of Nova Scotia.

Between 1713 and 1715 he was an MP in the British House of Commons for the constituency of Wigtown Burghs .

On December 29, 1711 he married Lady Jean Montgomerie, daughter of Alexander Montgomerie , 9th Earl of Eglinton . He had seven children:
