Alexander Riess

Alexander Riess , also Riess (born March 9, 1812 in Nauheim ; † May 31, 1868 ibid) was a Hessian landowner and politician and a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Alexander Riess was the son of Lieutenant Johann Philipp Riess and his wife Catharine, née Eusser. Riess, who was Protestant, was a farmer in Nauheim and married Elisabeth nee Mörler.

From 1866 to 1868 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of Oberhessen 14 / Nauheim . In the estates he represented liberal-conservative positions. After his death, Wilhelm Curtmann was elected as his successor.

The office of Dorheim with Nauheim was Electoral Hesse (Hessen-Kassel) until 1866 and was passed on to the Grand Duchy of Hessen (Hessen-Darmstadt) in an exchange of territory after the Prussian-Austrian War in the peace treaty of September 3, 1866 .

From 1856 to 1868 he was mayor of Nauheim.

Riess was buried in the old cemetery . His grave is no longer preserved. The Rießstraße in Bad Nauheim was named after him.
