Alexander Schmidt (historian)

Alexander Schmidt (* 1963 in Nuremberg ) is a German historian and exhibition designer.

Life

Schmidt studied history , political science and sociology in Erlangen and Berlin. He then worked from 1992 to 2002 as a historian and cityscape explorer at History For All - Institute for Regional History in Nuremberg. In 2004 he was with Wolfgang Hardtwig at the Philosophical Faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin with the dissertation culture in Nuremberg 1918-1933. Weimar Modernism in the Province for Dr. phil. PhD.

From 2002 to 2007 he was project manager for the conception of a permanent exhibition and educational director of the Flossenbürg Concentration Camp Memorial . Since 2007 he has been a research assistant at the Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds in Nuremberg. In addition, he is the spokesman for the regional group for Northeast Bavaria of Gegen Vergessen - For Democracy.

He published u. a. on the history of Nuremberg and the history of National Socialism .
