Aleksandre Anpilogowi ( Georgian ალექსანდრე ანპილოგოვი, Russian Александр Семёнович Анпилогов; born January 18, 1954 in Tbilisi , Georgian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet-Georgian handball player .
With the Soviet national team , the backcourt player won the gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and was world champion at the 1982 World Cup. He won the silver medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow and the 1978 World Cup . The 230-time national player was voted Georgia's handball player of the century.
After his sporting career, Anpilogowi worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Anti-Corruption. He later became vice president of the Georgian handball association. He has lived in Germany since the early 1990s. His son also plays handball.
