Alexander Straub (born October 14, 1983 in Geislingen an der Steige ) is a German pole vaulter .

Straub celebrated his first major international success by winning the bronze medal at the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin (5.76 m). He was also the 2007 student world champion .

In 2009 he also won the German active championship for the first time , which also qualified him for the World Championships in Berlin. Straub had already become German U23 junior champion in 2005.

At the 2010 World Indoor Championships in Doha, he won the bronze medal with a jumped height of 5.65 m.

His best performances are 5.81 m outdoors and 5.80 m indoors. Straub starts for LG Filstal .

With a height of 1.80 m, his weight is given as 73 kg. Straub is enrolled as a student of process engineering at the University of Stuttgart .
