Alexander Tietze (born February 6, 1864 in Liebenau , † March 19, 1927 in Breslau ) was a German doctor and the first person to describe Tietze syndrome .

Life

Alexander Tietze studied medicine at the University of Breslau and received his doctorate in 1887 . Between 1888 and 1895 he was an assistant doctor at the Breslau University Clinic under HE Fischer and from 1890 under Johann von Mikulicz-Radecki (1850–1905) and thus counts to the Wroclaw School of Surgeons. In 1894 he completed his habilitation with his work on clinical and experimental contributions to the teaching of intestinal incarceration and finally became chief physician in the Allerheiligen Hospital in Breslau in 1896 . The Tietzes were personally friends with Albert Neisser .

Between 1914 and 1920 he was a member of the Wroclaw City Council.
