Alexander Treichel

Alexander Treichel (born August 28, 1837 in Alt-Paleschken , † August 4, 1901 in Hoch-Paleschken ) was a German lawyer, landowner and folklorist from West Prussia .

Life

Career

Treichel studied law in Berlin after obtaining his university entrance qualification in Neustettin . In Berlin he was a member of various scientific societies, a. a. the Berlin Society for Anthropology, Ethnology and Prehistory .

In 1876 he took over the management of his parents' estate in Hochpaleschken in the Berent district , West Prussia province. There he continued to deal with scientific topics and was extensively active as a writer. His most famous works are "Folk songs and folk rhymes from West Prussia" and " The Kashubian homeland sagas ".

His wife Emma Töpfer and their two Berlin-born children lived on the estate in West Prussia.
