Alexander Chuchelov
Alexander Dmitrijewitsch Tschutschelow ( Russian Александр Дмитриевич Чучелов ; born April 26, 1933 in Tallinn , Estonia ; † January 1, 2017 ) was a Soviet sailor .
Career
Chuchelov was active for Kalev Tallinn . At the Finn Dinghy World Championships in 1959, he finished seventh. A year later, Chuchelov won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Rome behind the Dane Paul Elvstrøm . This was followed by a fifth place at the World Championships in 1961 and the European Championships in 1963. After he had become Soviet champion in 1964, he finished twelfth at the Olympic Games in Tokyo . Later he changed the boat class from Finn dinghy to Soling , in which he won the Soviet championship title in 1974 and 1975.
