Alexander von Szpinger
Alexander von Szpinger (born December 21, 1889 in Weimar ; † February 3, 1969 there ) was a German visual artist.
Career
Szpinger studied from 1906 to 1910 with Henry van de Velde (1863–1957) at the Kunstgewerbeschule Weimar , from 1918 he was a freelance artist in Weimar and his work followed the style of the early Christian Rohlfs (1849–1938). From 1948 he was a professor in Weimar.
He is one of the internationally recognized German landscape painters of the 20th century. With Walther Klemm , Oswald Baer , Otto Herbig and Karl Pietschmann he was a co-founder of the “ Weimar Secession ”.
