In addition, she went through vocal training at a conservatory . In 2017 she joined the Alternative für Deutschland and acts as an alderman in the Groß-Gerau district council. She also ran for her party in the Hessian state election in 2018 as a direct candidate in the constituency of Groß-Gerau I and ranked 12th on the state list. Via the state list, she also succeeded in entering the Hessian state parliament on election day . There she wants to deal primarily with the topics of culture and media and calls for the state license to be abolished . Walter lives in Rüsselsheim am Main .

After her election as member of the state parliament, Alexandra Walter came under fire for her attributed comments on the social network Facebook . Walter wrote under a picture with the former Waffen-SS member Dries Coolens that he was “a great person”, whom she herself “was allowed to hear at a lecture event”. Furthermore, Germany lost the Second World War because soldiers were seduced by women of the enemy and then betrayed war secrets. When asked, Walter denied having written the comments in question. Nevertheless, she was not accepted into the AfD parliamentary group at the constituent session of the state parliament on January 18, 2019 . She therefore belongs to the Parliament as a non-attached MEP .
