Alexandre Paes Lopes (born October 29, 1974 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Career

The 1.86 meter tall defender began his career in 1994 at Criciúma EC , for whom he played nine games in his debut season and scored two goals. This was followed by 21 more league games in the following season, until he went to the Corinthians São Paulo after the 1995 season , for which he scored a goal in eleven league games in 1996. The following year he moved to Sport Recife . In the 1997 and 1998 seasons Alexandre came to a total of 42 league appearances in which he scored one goal. From 1999 to 2000 he was under contract with Fluminense FC . In 2001 he went to Goiás EC , for which he played ten games and scored twice. In the same year he moved to the Russian club Spartak Moscow , for whose second team he completed a game that was his only game in Russia.

From 2002 to 2003 he was under contract with the Japanese club Tokyo Verdy . He was on the field 43 times for Verdy and had four goals at the end of the two seasons. After a year in Russia and two years in Japan, he went back to Brazil in 2004, where he played nine league games at SC Internacional , but without scoring. In 2005 and 2006 he was active at the Portuguesa and Criciúma EC clubs. His active career ended in December 2008 after a calendar year with Guarani FC .

From 1995 to 1996 he completed three senior international matches for the Brazilian national soccer team .
