Alexandre Murucci: "Vodoo Brancusi", 2010

Alexandre Murucci (* 1961 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian artist. He deals with photography , installations , light art and object art .

life and work

Alexandre Murucci studied architecture, specializing in art and scenography . From 2004 to 2006 he attended the "Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage" in Rio de Janeiro, a postgraduate school for artists and curators. He also studied sculpture in the Kislansky studio.

At the Biennale für Lichtkunst Austria 2010 Murucci showed an installation consisting of eight car taillights. This work, called “Vodoo Brancusi”, is both a homage to the sculptor Constantin Brancusi and an allusion to the North Americans' love of cars.

Murucci lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
