Alexandru Sándor Tyroler (born October 19, 1891 in Garamszentkereszt (today Žiar nad Hronom ), † February 3, 1973 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian-Romanian chess master .

Life

Already in 1912 he finished 5th at a tournament in Temesvár . In 1925 he then won a tournament in Bucharest. The following year he won in Sibiu, which was equivalent to winning the Romanian championship. He repeated this success in Bucharest in 1927. At the amateur world championships in The Hague, however, he only finished 15th, but won the Romanian championship again in 1929. This time the title fights took place in Jassy.

Tyroler also represented the Romanian colors at the unofficial Chess Olympiad in Budapest in 1926 , where he and the team won the bronze medal. However, only four teams had participated. He also took part with Romania at the third Chess Olympiad in Hamburg in 1930 .

Tyroler achieved its best historical rating of 2554 in January 1913, making it 37th in the world.
